Besides being a beautiful place to look at and walk around, I take it that the water level shouldn't be so high that the trees are so far from the shore. Are any of the homes or other structures being taken over by the pond?

Not so much the homes. Our neighborhood has been "developed" back in the 1930-1940's and is situated on a high point. No danger to the existing homes. In 2005 the cities of Dover and Somersworth built a trail around the pond. And then the floods came and destroyed it.

That is too bad about losing the trail. Water does have a mind of its own and will take down anything in it's path if it can. I haven't been to Dover since about 1963. My dad was in the Air Force when we lived there.
